Liquidity Event Planning

Planning Before the Transaction

The sale of a business, an investment property, or a concentrated stock position can change a family’s balance sheet in a single day. Wealth that was illiquid and tied to one asset becomes capital that has to be allocated and managed.

The most consequential planning happens before the transaction closes. We model potential proceeds under different scenarios, accounting for outstanding liabilities, the family’s liquidity needs, and any portion of wealth that may remain tied to the business or property. That work establishes how much capital may be available to invest and what needs to stay accessible.

We coordinate with your CPA, attorney, and transaction advisors throughout the process. After closing, the portion of proceeds intended for investment is managed in-house according to a plan developed in advance, rather than decided under time pressure.
